I see two American soldiers eating with other soldiers. The first thing is noticed was that they were eating fried chicken. The people shown are two soldiers sitting next to each other. Other details that I see are that they are younger. Also i noticed that there are other soldiers there which might mean they're in a lunchroom or a cafeteria of some sort. This image might have been made to show the life of a soldier and what they do and see everyday. It was probably made during the Great Depression. The audience was probably for people that aren't soldiers and don't know what it is like to be one but are interested in them. This picture was probably taken with a camera. I learned from this picture that being a solder is tough but you also get to spend time with friends and have fun sometimes. If someone were to make this today, the soldiers would have different uniforms and would probably be dirtier than the ones in this picture. However, if someone were to make this today, the soldiers would probably be eating the same things as the ones in this picture and be doing the same thing. I wondered who exactly are the soldiers in this picture and what their ranking was. I also wondered where they were and when this picture was taken.

In this picture i see a poor looking house with a woman and a young boy on the porch. I first notice that the house isn't as nice as other houses were back then. The woman and boy are both African-Americans and are standing outside of the house. Other details that i noticed were that there are other houses behind this house so that means its a neighborhood. I think this image was made in order to show people how African-Americans lived during the Great Depression and what they went through. The audience that this picture was maybe made for was to people who weren't slaves or African-Americans so that they can know what it was like for them and how they lived. From looking at this image i can infer that African-American slaves did not live well during the Great Depression and did not have good living quarters. This picture made me wonder what the boy and the woman's names were and how old they were exactly. I also wondered what the inside of the house looked like and if it was as bad as the outside.

In this picture i see the feet of Negro children during the Great Depression. I first noticed how tattered and dirty their clothes were. The people shown are African-American slave children. They are on a porch. Other details I can see are that most of them don't have shoes and the one that does are tattered along with the clothing. I thin that this image was made to express how hard the slaves worked all day, even the children. I think this picture was made during the Great Depression. This was probably made for people that weren't slaves in order to show them how hard slaves worked all day in the fields. From this image i can learn that the slaves were overworked and not given enough in return. I wondered from looking at this picture if their clothes were made by them or given to them. I also wondered when they were allowed to stop working.

A Greyhound bus trip from Louisville, Kentucky, to Memphis, Tennessee, and the terminals. Waiting for the bus at the Memphis terminal
In this picture is see a crowd of people waiting for the bus. The first thing i noticed was that the crowd of people were all white people and that the sign abover their heads said "White Waiting Room." The people are waiting in a huge, cramped crowd. Other details that i noticed was that none of the people were talking to each other. I think this image was made in order to show that even though all white people fell under the same group or social status that they weren't all the same and didn't even talk to each other. This image was probably made during a time of descrimination against African-Americans and the audience was probably pointed towards people who are interested in descrimination and want to know what it is like. From looking at this image i can infer that during the time of the Great Depression and descrimination was a time that people were not educated or intelligent about somethig that is a little different from what they're used to. If someonebody were to make this image again today, the crowd would be more diverse, not only with the blacks and white but with Asians, Hispanics, etc. However, i think if this image were taken today that still people would be minding their own buisness and not talking or conversing with each other. While analyzing this picture i wondered where these people could be going and why they were there. I also wondered what time it was and where they were.
Secondhand clothing stores and pawn shops on Beale Street, Memphis, Tennessee
I see in this picture two African-American men standing outside a hotel for colored only. The first thing i noticed was that the hotel wasn't the best and was a little run down. There are only a few people outside of the hotel, some are sitting and some standing. Other details that i see are that the hotel is on a main road and its busy. I think this image was made to show that even hotel were segregated between the whites and the blacks. It was made to show how the blacks' sections and buildings weren't as great as the whites'. I think this image was made also during a time of segregation. The audience was probably made for people that didn't expericne segregation in their life and to show them what it was like. From this image, i can learn that the blacks' during segregation didn't have it as good as the whites and weren't treated as well.
Bethlehem-Fairfield shipyards, Baltimore, Maryland. A drinking fountain
In this picture is see a sign for whites for water and soup. The first thing i noticed was that there was no sign for blacks, only whites. The words that i see are, whites, soup, and water. Other details that i noticed were that it is on a window. I think this image was made in order to show people that blacks and whites were thought of as different and were classified in different groups. It was probably made during a time of extreme segregation and was made for an audience to undrstand what happened back then. If this picture were made again today, there wouldn't be signs differentiating blacks from whites and everyone would be able to use the same things. I wondered where this photograph was taken and what year exactly it was taken.
